In the 1890s Daniel O’Riordan’s sister Margaret married Stephen Twomey of Ballyvouskill, Millstreet, Co Cork. They had four sons and one daughter – Mike and Stephen who were twins, John, Margaret (who became Sr. Albeus) and Patrick. Margaret O’Riordan died of an early age with cancer when Patrick was around 10 years old and Sr. Albeus was around 12. It is said that Albeus had to kneel on a chair to make the bread as she assumed responsibility for the housekeeping. She had to wait until Patrick got married at around the age of 23 before she became a nun in the Little Company of Mary.
